Basic Exercises and Their Benefits
Since numerous individuals have gym memberships, an estimated 45.5 million in 2009 as stated on the Statistic Brain website, and access to a substantial amount of premium fitness equipment, it seems as though many people have forgotten the benefits of basic exercises.
Some of these basic exercises include walking, running, situps, pushups, squats and jumping jacks. One of the good things about all of these exercises is that they can be done anywhere and do not require expensive equipment.
According to Garcia, an individual should run at least 45 minutes, three to four times per week in order to see results. Some of these results include strengthening the heart, increasing body density and raising metabolism. In order to strengthen core muscles, complete three to four sets of 20 to 25 repetitions of situps at least twice a week. She also stated that pushups can be completed in order to strengthen chest muscles, build upper body strength and increase metabolism. She recommends completing three to four sets of 15 to 20 repetitions in order to see results.
She went on to say that squats can be completed based on need. For example, if a person is trying to build muscle they can do heavy squats once per week to gain muscle mass. In order to lose weight, complete three to four sets of 30 squats twice per week to burn fat and build leg strength. In addition, jumping jacks are good for heart rate and it is recommended that the average person complete about 30 to 50 of them three to four times per week.
No Gym Membership, No Problem
According to the Statistic Brain website, the average monthly cost of a gym membership is $55, but this cost seems to go to waste for many since, according to the website, 67 percent of those with gym memberships do not use them.
Along with the basic exercises, people can, in addition, build a gym in the comfort of their home. Garcia often informs her clients that they do not have to join a gym in order to get in shape, although joining can help motivate people to work out, and according to Garcia, most of her clients need to have an appointment with her in order to find the motivation or time to exercise. If an individual wants to get more than the basic workout, they can use gym equipment in order to build endurance and strength.
Creating a home gym is convenient since the homeowner will not have to drive anywhere and they can work out anytime that is convenient for them. In addition, they have control over how large or small the gym will be as well as which room they would like the gym to be located.

For starters, purchase items that are not only good pieces of equipment for a basic workout, but are also inexpensive. Garcia mentioned that people can get fit just by using basic items, including dumbbells, a bar and jump rope. Garcia also mentioned a yoga mat can be purchased to do pushups as well as exercises that target the abdominals and glutes.
Using dumbbells and a bar to exercise helps build muscle mass, gain strength, build metabolism and lose fat by burning extra calories. In order to see results, it is recommended that these activities are completed at least three to four times per week for at least 45 minutes. In addition, among other things, jumping rope three to four times per week for at least 30 minutes per day will help people lose weight, speed up their metabolism and also help tone muscles.
