If you are on a diet, simply write down “Stick to your diet” or “Don’t cheat on your diet.” Again, place it anywhere you’ll see it often or anywhere you could desperately use the reminder, like on the side of that two-liter Coca-Cola.

At the end of each day, evaluate whether or not you adhered to your goals. Be sure to reward yourself in some way if you’re successful for a number of days.

If you chew a mint-flavored gum while studying or preparing for a presentation, chew the same mint gum when you’re taking the test or about to give the presentation. According to Warwick.ac.uk, a happy person will be twelve percent more productive than an unhappy person. It should also be noted that since Google invested more in employee support and satisfaction, its productivity rose by thirty-seven percent.

So, even though you should be careful how long your breaks last, you shouldn’t feel any shame at all in taking time to do things you enjoy. Ironically enough, overworking yourself could result in your work taking even longer.

On a corporate level, research has shown that even the use of social technologies can increase productivity. The McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) has identified employee productivity tools by using social technologies to “enhance communications, knowledge sharing and collaboration within and across enterprises,” as its official website explains.

MGI explains that by implementing social technologies, companies might be able to raise productivity in their workers by roughly twenty percent. The key to this is making sure the workers know that they should not be afraid to participate and that their thoughts will be heard. So share your ideas and learn from your peers.
